Deep brain stimulation surgery is a safe and highly effective treatment for the motor features of Parkinson’s disease; nevertheless, quite a bit of controversy exists about the ideal time during the course of Parkinson’s disease to initiate deep brain stimulation surgery. In this webinar, we will engage deep brain stimulation experts from multiple academic centers across the United States to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of scheduling surgery earlier versus later.
With an introduction by Brian Berman, M.D., director of the VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center, this is the second of three webinars on controversies in Parkinson’s disease.
